5 tips for winning hospital bids

Do you want to start winning hospital bids but are not sure where to start? In this blog, we take a look at five tips for winning your next hospital tender.

  1. Check your qualifications

The first thing you need to do when trying to win hospital bids is make sure you’re eligible. To do this, read through the tender documents and check for any qualifications or accreditations you might need.

Some of the key accreditations that are needed when applying for hospital tenders include:

  • ISO 9001
  • ISO 27001
  • NVQs (usually Level 3 or above).
  1. Demonstrate your experience

As part of your tender response for hospital bids, the buyer is likely to ask for previous contract examples. You should prepare two to three case studies from the past five years that demonstrate your relevant experience. This will reassure the buyer that you’re capable of delivering the contract successfully.

  1. Think about your pricing

When applying for hospital bids, you want to make your proposal is the most price attractive to the buyer. In the public sector, buyers will award the contract to the most economically advantageous tender, or the MEAT. Simply put, this means they’re looking for the highest quality services for the lowest price.

  1. Add value to the contract

When it comes to hospital bids, you’ll be competing against other suppliers that offer the same services. To stand out in such a competitive field, you need to add as much value as possible to the contract. Added value, also known as social value, is now mandatory in public sector contracts, with a compulsory weighting of 10%. You need to show the buyer how your business will deal with environmental, social and economic factors. So, for example, you should consider how your company will:

  • Support ongoing COVID-19 recovery
  • Encourage economic growth
  • Tackle climate change
  • Create new job opportunities
  • Give back to the local community.
  1. Give yourself plenty of time

Finally, remember to give yourself plenty of time to complete your tender response and submit the bid. NHS tenders are often large, complex and notorious for involving a lengthy procurement process. Therefore, you need to ensure you have enough time to complete each stage of the project.

To do this, you could try working backwards from the submission deadline to create a plan. This will prevent you from rushing to complete the bid at the last minute.

In summary

Do you want to know how to win hospital bids? Remember our five tips for success:

  1. Check your qualifications
  2. Demonstrate your experience
  3. Think about your pricing
  4. Add value to the contract
  5. Give yourself plenty of time.
